Cala Group, is a major UK housebuilder and leading provider of desirable new homes across homes across Scotland, the South and East of England, the Cotswolds and West Midlands.
Founded in 1875 as the City of Aberdeen Land Association, Cala has a long history in successful land management before beginning house building in the 1970s.
Cala operates through eight regional businesses across the UK, employing 1,300 people across 10 offices, and with around 75 live developments at any time. In Scotland, three regional businesses cover the principal cities of Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen. In England, four regional businesses operate in the Home Counties (excluding central London), with a fifth in the southern Midlands.

In turn, Samaritans provides training to help equip Cala’s staff – as well as employees of its subcontractors – with the skills to take care of their own wellbeing and that of their colleagues.
As part of Cala’s Five Year Plan, ‘Sustainability’ is one of its six strategic pillars, with the ambition to “operate the business to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs”. This includes commitments to help fight the effects of climate change on the planet by:
- Building homes that are operationally net zero carbon by 2030
- Reaching net zero greenhouse gas emissions in line with the Scottish Government’s 2045 target and ahead of UK Government’s 2050 target
